Webcast Tutorial
Webcast Tutorial for Blooket. I enjoyed creating this webcast to teach my patrons how to use an online game that is often utilized to review material in the classroom. I was able to use my creativity and allow my viewers to hear my voice and see my face. I will be creating instructional webcasts like this one in the future to teach my students and patrons about other things in the library, such as how to use the online catalog and the MAGNOLIA database.

Infographic with social media tips for tweens. I created this infographic using Canva. Learning to make an effective and accurate infographic is a skill I will continue to utilize in the future to show my patrons statistics about various topics in a way that will grab their attention. I plan to create an infographic at the end of the school year to illustrate how many books were checked out from the library, how many times the online catalog was utilized, how many library books were lost, and more information to that effect.
Collection Development Policy
Click here to view the collection development policy I created for my elementary school library in LIS 511: Collection Development and Management. It was extremely beneficial and directly applicable to my role as elementary school librarian to learn to create a thorough policy like this one, which includes a complete description of how I procure new library materials, weed outdated and damaged materials, accept gifts to the library, deal with challenges and complaints, and more. The collection development policy is an integral part of every library so that new employees and stakeholders can understand how and why the library operates the way it does.
Library History Paper
Click here to view my paper on the history of libraries for LIS 636: Foundations of Libraries. My paper focused on the history and present state of censorship in the library. From the time when libraries first began to be utilized by the public, censorship has existed, and still today, people lack complete access to library materials and information due to the restriction of information, sometimes inadvertently. It was very interesting to see that in the past, librarians were often to blame for censorship, restricting certain materials from certain patrons. Presently, on the other hand, it seems that book challenges and bans are on the rise due to patrons' complaints. Over the past several years, news reports have indicated a rise in book challenges and bans. By researching and writing this paper, I learned how librarians have faced the issue and how the problem has evolved over the years.
Women's History Month Resource List
Here is a resource list I created for use by teachers, librarians, parents, and students. I will utilize the skills I developed through this assignment in the future by creating other resource lists for my patrons, their families, and teachers to use in the classroom. I will be creating a list of resources to use for summer reading and learning at the end of each school year to post on my school's website. In the past, I would have created a paper handout with a list of titles, but by providing the synopsis of each book and a citation, patrons will know exactly which books they are interested in and will be able to find the titles easily.
